How does the IWS Flood & Drain System work?

Easily modified and upgradeable, the IWS Flood & Drain Pro system is a complete nutrient delivery system that can be arranged to suit any sized grow area.

The nutrient is pumped from the main reservoir, which typically is a FlexiTank, and out to the high tech IWS Brain at times picked by the user. This Brain is connected to 16mm pipework which is subsequently connected to the containers in the system. As the Brain fills with nutrient solution, so do all the containers. Inside the Brain sits a float switch which turns off the flow of nutrient solution when the water level gets too high in the containers. In addition, to stop flooding, the float height is the same as the top of the containers. These fail safe’s stop the plant roots being saturated which can then lead onto deformities and even plant death.

With each container, there is an inner and outer section. The inner pot sits inside of the outer and has perforated holes for root growth to pass through. It also houses whichever substrate the gardener decides to use.

When setting up your system, remember that the Brain pot and the pot stands need to be on the same surface and at the same height. This is because if they were on different levels, the system would either under water the plants or over-fill the pots.
