What is an IWS Flood & Drain Pro system?
Comprising of larger pipework than standard IWS Flood & Drain systems, the IWS Flood & Drain Pro system is one of the best-automated flood and drain systems on the market today.
The IWS Flood & Drain systems have long been a favourite with indoor growers as it simple to set up and makes growing commercial sized gardens quick and easy. Unlike previous versions, the IWS Flood & Drain Pro is equipped with larger pipes and fittings. This improves the flow of nutrients to plants, allowing the system to flood and drain the attached pots a lot quicker. This results in a more oxygenated nutrient solution and also reduces the amount of stale air present around the plant’s root system. Subsequently, this results in a healthier root system and enables plants to produce large, healthy crops and yields.
IWS Flood & Drain Pro system contents:
- Flexi Tank – dependant on your choice of system
- IWS Flood & Drain Brain Pot (otherwise known as the Controller Bucket)
- Premium IWS Flood & Drain Minute Timer
- Outer Pots
- 6.5l Inner Pots
- Copper Discs (to suit your choice of Inner Pot)
- Pot Stands
- 25mm Flexi Pipe
How does the IWS Flood & Drain Pro System work?
Easily modified and upgradeable, the IWS Flood & Drain Pro system is a complete nutrient delivery system that can be arranged to suit any sized grow area.
The nutrient is pumped from the main reservoir, which typically is a FlexiTank, and out to the high tech IWS Brain at times picked by the user. This Brain is connected to 25mm pipework which is subsequently connected to the containers in the system. As the Brain fills with nutrient solution, so do all the containers. Inside the Brain sits a float switch which turns off the flow of nutrient solution when the water level gets too high in the containers. In addition, to stop flooding, the float height is the same as the top of the containers. These failsafe’s stop the plant roots being saturated which can then lead onto deformities and even plant death.
With each container, there is an inner and outer section. The inner pot sits inside of the outer and has perforated holes for root growth to pass through. It also houses whichever substrate the gardener decides to use.
When setting up your system, remember that the Brain pot and the pot stands need to be on the same surface and at the same height. This is because if they were on different levels, the system would either under water the plants or over-fill the pots.
Recommended space requirements for each IWS Flood & Drain Pro system
6-pot: 1.5m x 1.5m

48-pot: 4.8m x 3.6m
Available in three different pot variations: Punched, Aqua & Culture
Culture Pots are subsequently used growing plants in coco
Aqua Pots are subsequently used for growing plants in clay pebbles
Punched Pots are subsequently used for growing plants in soil
